To kick things off, Robotspeak is hosting a pre-party at their store on Friday, May 18th from 8pm to 11pm featuring Daedelus, Pineresin, Peter Kirn and myself. I'll also be a guest judge at the Cassette Jockey World Championships held at the Maker Faire on Sunday, May 20th.

Create Digital Music has invited me to speak at their Macworld panel in January. On the panel with me will be COUNT (DJ Shadow, Radiohead, Halou), guitarist Joe Gore (Tom Waits, PJ Harvey), producer/composer Walt Szalva of Planet-3 Studios (Neil Young, Paul McCartney), and presumably Create Digital Music's own Peter Kirn (author of "Real World Digital Audio"). The event runs all day (9-4) Friday, January 12, 2007 at Macworld in San Francisco.

I'm teaching a class in Ableton Live 6 at Robotspeak beginning next week. I'll also be co-teaching a beginner class in Reaktor with Matt Ganucheau in December. I've added a few pictures from my performance at the Decibel Festival on my MySpace page along with a vintage video of me demonstrating my circuit bent TI Touch & Tell at Robotspeak in 2002.

Some Sounds We Like and DoBox Recordings are proud to present A.V.A. (audio.video.art) on Friday, September 8th at Blue Monkey in downtown San Jose. This event will feature live performances from DoBox artists Qorser, Steve Cooley and Derek Scott (aka The Rhythmist). Also performing will be Noka from Nokamusic and Chachi Jones from Robotspeak. On top of all that, Steve Cooley will also have an interactive video installation for all to enjoy. Hope to see you there!

We're taking the Robotspeak Sessions show up to Seattle for the Decibel Festival on Saturday, September 16th. I'll be playing there along with one of my favorite artists Lusine and Robotspeak alumni Mork Choklad and Circuit73.

"Dymaxion Daydream" has just been added to iTunes. I've been playing a few shows here and there, working on remixes for friends. My remix of Tycho's "Send & Receive" has just been released by M3RCK as part of a 7" box set called Squadron. I'm teaching a four-session class on Ableton Live at Robotspeak starting Monday, July 10th. Also, I'll be playing as part of the Field Day campout on Saturday, July 15th.

*05/24/06

I'm playing a fun show Friday, May 26th at the Chabot Space & Science Museum in Oakland. If you've never been, it's an amazing, beautiful, futuristic building high in the Oakland hills. This is a rare chance to enjoy the museum at night, have a few beers, take in the Sonic Vision planetarium show, witness the bleeding edge of interactive video installation by Steve Cooley and of course listen to the only ukulele David Bowie tribute band Ukulele Apocalypse and little ol' me. It starts at 8pm and tickets are $15 ($10 for students) and include drink tickets and admission to the planetarium show.

*04/23/06

There's a short, 3 minute video documentary of my CD release party up on Google Video thanks to Andrew Cavette.

Great new show coming up at Mighty, S.F. on April 20th.

SF Weekly just ran a nice piece on me by Jennifer Maerz.

*03/30/06

I'm having a CD release party for Dymaxion Daydream at Robotspeak on Friday, April 7th. It's free and it starts at 8pm. I'll be performing some tracks fom the new album in surround sound.

For kindred geeks, Make magazine is having their first ever Maker Faire at the San Mateo County Fairgrounds April 22-23rd. Univac and me will be giving a circuit bending and DIY audio demos and taking questions.

Also, I haven't seen it yet, but the new copy of URB magazine has my top 10 in it.

*03/22/06

All Music Guide just gave Dymaxion Daydream a 4.5 out of 5 stars review! I don't have any champagne handy, but I might just go out and get a celebratory burrito. Yeah! Read the review.

*03/14/06

I'm back from playing the DataAge 2-year anniversary show in L.A. and I had a great time with Yoko Solo and Schrödinger's Mac.

*02/14/06

A short video I made as a bonus track is now available for stream or download from the Google Video site. The first few seconds of it got a bit scrambled, but all in all I think it turned out well. You can read all about how I made the video and the song by visiting the video's homepage on Google. A small, streamable version of the video should appear below.

*02/11/06

My new album Dymaxion Daydream comes out very soon! You can listen to some of the album tracks on my MySpace page. Album preorder available on Amazon.com.

*02/03/06

If anyone in Portland wants to get their ears boxed-in, me and the Robotspeak crew will be in town soon to "wreck it".

*10/05/05

New goodies for you that I should have posted long ago. The really great interview I had with Colleen that was published in Tape Op a year ago is now posted in the interviews section with lots of great photos. Also C/A/T over at Crunch Pod Media just released a remix compilation for his song "Liturgy of the Free", including a remix I made. My version is posted in in my music page, and his version is posted at Crunch Pod.

*09/19/05

My friend and rocker Steve is throwing a big CD release show for his band Trip Device. I'll be opening the show and then spending the rest of the night with one fist in the air and the other holding my drink.

*07/14/05

My interview with Prefuse 73 is posted to the Robotspeak Magazine article archive. Watch that archive for more interviews with electronic musicians I'm doing for the best damn magazine in the world!

*07/02/05

My show with the Hail & Ride crew at Club 222 in SF is now archived for download at Beta Lounge. Search the archives for the 06.07.05 Hail & Ride Show. My set is about 02:13:30 into the recording.

Robotspeak Magazine!

We're launching our own magazine and I'm running the show. Each issue includes interviews with electronic musicians and a butt-load of gear reviews. Subscriptions are free, so sign up here.

*03/11/05

Rest assured, I'm still alive. It's just been a rough few months. After sorting through a series of bad apartments and bad jobs I finally have my life together and (perhaps equally important) my ghetto little studio back up and running.

Good things are in the works, including a great Hail & Ride show on Tuesday, June 11th at Club 222 in S.F. Also keep an eye out for a new & improved version of my circuit-bent gear available at Robotspeak.

Keep hope alive. And if you have a job you don't like, think hard about how to save some money, stash that tax return and leave that m*&!@erf~%#er. It's the closest one ever comes to feeling real, unfiltered freedom.

There's a very, very well done interview with me that's just been posted up on Disquiet.com. If you're an electronic music fan and you've never been to this site -- you really need to check it out. Disquiet is run by Marc Weidenbaum who is also the Managing Editor at e/i magazine.

*03/05/04
Here it is, the show you'll be telling your grandchildren about --"YR INSIDE THE BIGGEST RAVE IN SAN FRANCISCO" presented by Rephlex Records, Tigerbeat6, Trouble and Reflective Records. The lineup is amazing, and by some incredible twist of fate Jonah Sharp from Spacetime Continuum invited me to join him to play in the event's chill room. This is like the glitch geek Super Bowl!

*02/18/04
My interview with Manitoba is now up in the interviews section. The guy is funny and brilliant and worth your time to read. Also, there's an amazing show coming up next week at SF's DNA Lounge on Thursday night, February 26th. It's the entire Command Collective (myself, Tycho, Dusty Brown, Faster Faster and Tha' Fruitbat) plus DJs from Sister SF.

Also, there's a great review of my Robotspeak performance up on Disquiet.com thanks to writer Marc Weidenbaum.

*01/28/04
New show on February 7th w/Damiak (from n5MD), DJ Basura, Mupetblast, Such Broken Glass and Faster Faster. Check the Shows sections for the details.

Come see me play at Robotspeak in SF at 2pm this Saturday (January 10th). It's free!

*12/19/03
New unreleased track available for download from French Web label Electrochelou! "Kibble" is a song that couldn't fit on my Kayzio 3" CDEP, so I've handed it over to my new friend Sebastien who runs Electrochelou. The song is quite spacious and plays with the extremes of ambient, drone and Kayzio's signature Casio Rapman-based glitch drums. Visit Electrochelou to hear the song.

*12/15/03
I have stopped selling my circuit bent instruments online. Instead, my bent gear is now sold exclusively at Robotspeak in S.F. (Haight & Steiner).

*11/17/03
Portland was lots of fun. Thanks to everyone who fed me, got me tipsy and drove me around. Got a new circuit-bent Speak & Read up on Ebay this week. Also, a really, really good and thorough review of Claustrophilia up on muisc.com.

*11/13/03
The Earplug ezine just wrote a damn nice review of Claustrophilia. Thanks guys!

*11/11/03
My first "signature series" circuit-bent Speak & Spell is up for sale on ebay.

*11/07/03
In an effort to capitalize on my surely fleeting fame, I will be doing a very short run of personally modified, circuit-bent instruments.

*11/06/03
The XLR8R Web site has been updated now and features issue #72 and the circuit-bending feature. Now you can read an excerpt of the article online.

*10/22/03
XLR8R #72 is out today! Inside you'll find three pictures of me with all my toys taken by the lovely and talented Jessica Miller! The issue is a special, extra-big "Music & Technology" issue with 32 extra pages jam-packed with XLR8R goodness. So go buy it! Take a look.

*9/29/03
Had a great time at this year's Noisefest! Thanks to everyone who made it out and helped to support one of Sacramento's best and brightest truly unique cultural events. Pictures will be up soon in the photos section, and an MP3 of my performance on KDVS the Thursday before the festival will be available soon on my audio page.

*9/29/03
The new show is scheduled for Fox & Goose, Saturday October 25th.

*8/29/03
My first full-length CD "Claustrophilia" will finally be released. This is amazing news considering that the CD has been pending release for over a year while the label sought a new distribution deal. It seems it was worth the wait because now the CD will be distributed through BMG, one of North America's largest music distributors - which means you may actually find this CD on the shelves in local stores! Crazy, huh? You can hear MP3 samples of "
Claustrophilia" on my page on the Lunaticworks Web site.

Our Command Collective show on 7/19 was a huge success. Had two articles written on the Collective, one in the Sacramento News & Review and one in the Sacramento Bee. Feeling good.

*5/27/03
The June show in SF has been canceled much to everyone's disappointment. Here's the wording from the echolocation site:

Please accept our apologies and keep an eye open for more adventures in the near future...

*5/1/03

Updated website design thanks to
Adrienne Yan's exceedingly good photo of me playing at ye olde Fox & Goose pub. Finally updated my interview section. Played a damn nice show last weekend with Sote and Anon & Girlie8. Oh, and I decided this news section should have ridiculously large type.
